Hi! I thought it would be nice to have a journal of this new phase in our lives.  After we got married a year and a half ago, asking if  I am pregnant or when are we planning to have babies have been constant questions by family members, relatives and friends. Well, I say - now is the time!  Join me as I make an account of each exciting moments. You can enjoy reading, learn something, pray with me and for me, share your experiences or simply witness this new adventure as we expect our angel in the family. God bless.

-Cherrie (April 2007)

09 April - For the past few days, Olwin has been teasing me that I am pregnant, and I said, that can't be. He suspected it when a friend of ours visited us that week, and said that I gained weight. Over the weekend, we went to DFC Hyper Panda to buy some groceries and I bumped into the health section. I saw a cheap pregnancy test pack and bought 2! The following morning, I did the pee test and funny coz the result has 1 thick line and 1 thin line... I took the result as negative. After I gave Olly the usual morning goodbye kiss just before I left home to work, he asked for the result. I told him I'm not pregnant. At about 8am, I got his usual "hey-Im-already-awake-and-having-my-breakfast" call, he told me that the result said it's positive. I contested and left at that. That day, I received one call after the other from him, asking me how I was and if I have eaten something. The calls were so mischievious that I felt he's just over the top and expecting I am pregnant. I committed to have a blood test in the evening to finally know whether I'm pregnant or not, provided he would not annoy me through the rest of the day. We went to New Medical Center Hospital in Ghusais to have the lab test. Unfortunately, it will take an hour and a half to know the result and they told us that they will call.  That day, we had a volleyball committee thanksgiving party and Olwin had dinner engagement with their office sales team. I had to leave earlier as our function was earlier. I was at Zabeel Park when I got the news - the pathologist told me, "Yes Mrs. Lobo, it's positive." I was shocked in awe, and wanted to scream for joy. I asked in a high tone... "Really? Are you sure?"... I didn't know what to do nor say, but how I wished Olly was with me so I can hug him. I was so sure he will be so happy if he hears the news. So it was my turn to give the good news... I called him on his mobile and found out he's still at home. I asked him to get the result at the hospital which is just 5 minutes away from where we stay. And then he asked, "Are you pregnant?" I said, get the results and you will know... he insisted, and i said yes - praise the Lord! Based on the lab test, I am between 4-5 weeks pregnant.

12 Apr - First doctor's appointment in Dubai. We've chosen American Hospital. It's Dra. Meera who met us for the first time. They suspect I'm 10 weeks pregnant based on my LMP. My weight is 59.7 kgs - have i gained weight? Think so, i get hungry a lot and eat a lot. So far, no vommiting, no nausea nor food craving. Great!

7 weeks - 01 May 2007

01 May - we heard the heartbeat for the first time! they found 2 fibroids near the uterus, nothing to worry about, just something to note. Expected delivery is early-mid December. I gained 1.5 kgs in 1 1/2 month, mmm, not bad! Now61.1 kgs.

12 May - so far, thank God for an easy early pregnancy. This week, i craved for ice cream and potato chips... mood swing was evident, poor olly - he's the recipient of my grumpiness. but he's very supportive and very loving - that's another praise note!

06 Jun - I had an ultrasound. And our hearts leaped with joy when we saw the baby. In our last ultrasound, we saw a bean-shaped baby. Now it is full grown with the arms, legs and all. The baby was moving actively and we saw the baby kicked, boxed, with the arms and leg movements, even the body and head moves. The first thing I saw was the nose - looks exactly like olly's, hehehe… Praise the Lord, we were informed that the baby is normal and that there's nothing to worry about. I had this ultrasound to find if the liquid in the neck portion is normal - and thank Jesus, all is fine.

09 Jun - 3rd doctor's appointment but 1st time with Dr. Dawn Owens. I like her, very modern and very practical. She showed us the heart beating - says normal. I can't believe i lost weight - i'm 60.9kgs. Still easy on pregnancy, thank God! They took a urine sample and taken blood for some tests.

12 Jun - as Philippines celebrates it's Independence Day, I also rejoine in freedom from any problems with my urine and blood tests! Today, I got a call from the hospital and found out my test results. Thank God, all my results are GOOD. No bacteria in urine, i'm cleared of HIV, hepatitis and rubella.

28 June - I am now 16 weeks. Last night, we felt the baby moved for the first time. It was like several punches on my right belly. At first, I thought it could be my heartbeat, but it stopped. I called Olly and he tried to feel it - nope, it just stopped. After sometime, he placed his ears on top of my belly (middle) and he felt the 'kick'... I didn't feel because he was moving and was talking at the same time. But after sometime, we both felt the big kick! It was amazing...

15 August - I'm almost 23 weeks now and we just had another ultrasound. Our baby is bigger and frequently kicks but very faintly. At 142 pounds, I am still active but easily get tired...

15 Sep - Another day of doctor's appointment. This time I have done my glucose test. I was asked to drink a bottle of glucose that tasted exactly like fanta softdrinks! Wow, have not drank any soda since New Year's eve, so this tasted really good. I was told not to drink nor eat anything after an hour and then the hard part comes - they took blood from me, huhuhu... Thank God, my sugar level is normal...

20 Oct - Dr. Dawn asked me to have another ultrasound to check the fibroid they found earlier... we were told that it was a size of an egg - but nothing to be afraid of. It has not grown and it's outside the uterus. I started feeling heavy and walked slower than usual. Also having a hard time finding the right position to sleep... Now I'm 32 weeks at 153 pounds..  I gained exactly 10 kilos since April - not bad! I am watchful of my feet and hands - don't want them to swell.

03 Nov - Now on my 34th week... have already stepped into 8th month. Nothing extraordinary. I just complain of heavier tummy, harder to sleep at night and I can't sit on a low chair - I will have a hard time getting up for sure. We've also bought few stuff to prepare for baby's arrival - sterilizer and some more feeding bottles.
